The Viola is the middle voice of the stringed instrument family which includes the violin, viola, cello and double bass.
The viola has a lower pitch than the violin and is equivalent in range to the tenor voice of a choir. In appearance, it is almost identical to the violin but slightly larger; its strings are tuned a fifth lower in pitch.
The viola produces a tone that is darker and warmer than that of the violin.
This fully carved Patina Model PTV520 "Notre Dame" Viola features hand-carved boxwood fittings with a decorative cherub tailpiece and matching pegs. Aimed at the advancing student, it has features rarely found in student instruments!
